From brief to launch

Make the important decisions before launch day.

A planned WordPress or WooCommerce build should account for the content, customers and staff tasks that will keep the site useful.

  1. Describe the site’s job

Identify the audience, important pages, forms or buying steps and the team that will maintain them. For an existing site, review what should carry over and what needs changing.

  2. Work through content and rules

List the page types, product choices, account rules and connected services. Resolve questions that affect the design before treating a visual mockup as a complete specification.

  3. Choose a maintainable approach

Explain the theme, blocks, plugins and custom code proposed. Record required accounts, licences, renewals and responsibility for each part.

  4. Build a working version for review

Use representative content and safe test data. Review both the visitor experience and the tasks editors or store staff will perform.

  5. Check launch and handoff

Test relevant mobile and keyboard behavior, internal links, forms and commerce paths. Plan any content move, backup and reversal steps. Record what was checked and the agreed maintenance arrangements.

What would you like the site to do?
